ONE-TO-ONE ECOTHERAPY

Our one-to-one ecotherapy sessions will be a shared journey of co-creation. My approach is person-centred. That means I believe in your ability to create the change that you need in your life. I’m there as a support and a guide.

The techniques I use include the person-centred counselling model, mindfulness exercises, creativity, trauma-informed bodywork and nature-based tracking and guiding.

I also work a lot with the concept of ‘wholeness’. Western medicine has separated our minds from our bodies, which has created a pathologising approach. We tend to think that if we feel sadness, anxiety, anger or depression then there is a problem that must be fixed. In reality, all these (and many more) states or feelings are simply a natural part of being human.

One-to-one ecotherapy will support you on a journey of self-awareness and self-acceptance that is non-judgemental and inclusive. If you choose to go on this journey you’ll meet and get to know many different parts of yourself. These ‘parts’ can be described as sub-personalities that have developed (often in childhood) as defence mechanisms or survival strategies. You can read more on that here.

The aim is not to change these parts but to understand and accept them as the very thing that makes you a unique individual. Life shouldn’t be about avoiding unpleasant experiences or emotions, rather it is about using our inner resources and natural propensity for healing – just like everything else in the natural world.

It’s important to add that one-to-one ecotherapy is not simply counselling outdoors. Nature plays an active part in every aspect of ecotherapy. In fact, she is the best therapist of all!

Nature is a powerful mirror. Stare at an animal, tree or plant for long enough and you will start to see elements of what is going inside you, reflected in them.

When we’re connected to nature, we tend to be more relaxed and open. It’s the perfect environment to explore how you feel, where you’ve been and where you really want to go.

We’ll work with nature in our sessions through a range of practices that will help reconnect you with your wild, authentic self and with the rest of the natural world.

What People Are Saying

“Working with Caroline out in nature has really opened my eyes to the fact that I spend most of my time stuck inside my head. I’m constantly thinking and worrying about things and then assuming that my thoughts are reality. I now understand that thoughts are simply thoughts and that my experience of the world is completely different to anyone else’s. This process is helping me know myself better and like myself more.”
