Embrace the Dark - night walks for women
Embrace the Dark is all about building a stronger connection with the natural world through the magical night time. It's an ecotherapy workshop, a night walk for women and a fireside storytelling event all rolled into one!
I created this experience because I was aware that so many women are scared of the dark. As a child, I loved going out into the garden at night to see if I could hear owls or see bats. This progressed to night walks on my own and games that I would play with my friends after darkness fell. I wanted to bring some of this fun and magic to other women.
As a group we look within; pay attention to our own energy, our own sense of connection or disconnection, fear, joy, calm. We create time for ourselves and delve deeper into what the natural world means for us. We watch the shadows dance, share stories around the fire and connect to the themes of the season.
Embrace the Dark offers a shared journey and supportive atmosphere. It creates a sense of connection and authenticity, with everyone having the space to listen and share (if you want to). These are some of the things we do regularly:
A fun and creative activity
Mindfulness and grounding exercises
Storytelling around the fire
A group night walk (through woodland or open countryside)
A 'sit spot'
Poetry readings
Sharing and reflection

What People Are Saying
“Wow – what an amazing experience! I would normally feel too scared to go walking in the dark on my own, so it felt really powerful to be part of a group of women exploring the darkness, both literally and metaphorically. Instead of feeling scared by the sounds of rustling in the woods, I connected to all those little creatures going about their business in the safety of the dark. It was a truly magical night.”
